PEDS-04b (PEDS) Pediatric PM Concurrent Session #2: Complications of Transplant for Non-Malignant Conditions

Track: Pediatric BMT Program
Thursday, February 2, 2012: 2:00 PM-3:30 PM
Douglas D (Manchester Grand Hyatt)
Chair:
Christopher C Dvorak, MD
Summary:

There is increasing use of allogeneic transplantation for the management of non-malignant, hematologic disorders in children, especially transplants using alternative donor sources. Along those lines, several challenges have become apparent, including the development of autoimmune cytopenias, EBV re-activation and PTLD, and a wide range of opportunistic infections. This session will examine common complications manifested in transplants for non-malignant disorders, and potential therapeutic options.
